About…

General facts

Hey, I’m Tanja!
Born in 1998 in a small bavarian town close to countryside and nature, I spent most of my time growing up outdoors, exploring new areas and going on small adventures.

I’m a freelance filmmaker, specialising in travel and outdoor videography. From cinematic films, documentaries, social media content, behind the scenes, travel vlogs and interviews… I basically do everything that has to do with videos.

My home is still in Bavaria (Germany), but I’m usually traveling around the world most of the time.

Personal motivation and background

For as long as I can remember, I was captivated by the strong impact a single video could have on people. I would completely lose myself in good storytelling. Eager to combine this inspiration with my love for nature and travel, I started to get into filmmaking and create my own stories.

I am convinced that traveling and being in nature can change our lives for the better. The experiences we make not only shape us, but also allow us to further develop as a person. I want to inspire and motivate other people with my work to go out there and create unforgettable memories themselves.

adventure – trust – courage – empathy – joy of life

Working methods

I focus on capturing authentic experiences, showing real emotions and the unique beauty of every moment. Combining different perspectives from air, ground and underwater enables me to tell captivating stories that engage with the audience.

By being fully part of it! I find it easy to adapt and integrate quickly, whether it’s with locals, staff, entrepreneurs or a travel group – I love to connect with different people. This way I’m not just an external filmmaker, but rather become a friend and member of the team.

I would describe myself as an easy-to-work-with person. I’m flexible and straightforward, always ready for the next challenge or adventure. Staying professional and reliable, but also bringing fun, passion and new ideas to every project is what defines me.

But don’t just take my word for it, see what previous clients and team members had to say: reviews

…being a travel filmmaker

It takes more than just a fancy camera and passion for traveling. You need to be able to adapt to any situation, stay flexible and spontaneous all the time. Here are some key features that make a good travel filmmaker:

Euipment

Having the right equipment for every condition and relying on high-quality gear that can withstand rough environments is essential. It’s also important to know which specific tools to bring for the day or location – packing smartly can make all the difference when capturing the perfect shot.

Physical requirements

Travel filmmaking demands physical endurance and fitness. Whether it’s hiking with heavy gear for hours, filming in challenging terrains, or enduring harsh weather conditions, you need to be ready to push your limits.

Personality & Mindset

Strong social skills are vital for working harmoniously with travel groups, locals, or co-workers. Creativity, attention to detail, and the ability to step out of your comfort zone are essential for capturing unique stories. Being organized and adaptable ensures that every project runs smoothly.

…my gear

What’s in my camera bag?

Main camera

I usually work with the Sony Alpha 7S III, which is still one of the best filmmaking cameras on the market. It guarantees high quality 4K footage and provides great stabilisation. I use a flat color profile for maximum flexibility in post-production.
My second camera is the Sony a6600.

Lenses

Using different lenses gives me the opportunity to capture more angles, and thus convey different emotions.
These are my most frequently used lenses:
Sony 24-70mm: I mainly use this lens for run and gun video shoots as it gives me the most flexibility.
Sony 20mm F/1.8: This is my favourite lens! It’s great for low-light and wide-angle shots.
Sony 70-300mm: If I need to film something at a greater distance, I use this telephoto lens (e.g. on safaris).

Drones

For regular and cinematic drone shots I use the DJI Mavic 3.
It has a long range, is very wind-resistant, always reliable and has great quality. If I want more action with dynamic and unique movements, I use the DJI FPV in combination with a GoPro.

Additional Equipment

I use the DJI RS3 gimbal for extra smooth footage, otherwise I shoot handheld with a SmallRig cage. Having an on-camera shotgun microphone (Rode NTG) mounted, ensures recording high quality audio, which is crucial for good sound design. When doing interviews the DJI Mic 2 comes into play. For compact setups or underwater shots, I rely on a GoPro, though my main camera with underwater housing is available for high-quality productions.
